Am J Clin Med--News You Can Use; Fall 2009
In an October 20, 2009 letter from the Texas Medical Board, Executive Director Mari Robinson informed us that the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS), the official certifying arm of the American Association of Physician Specialists, Inc., meets all of the requirements of Board Rule 164.4(c) in order for you to advertise that you are “board certified.” Additionally, physicians must indicate that they are specifically board certified by the ABPS and also indicate the specialty in which the certification has been awarded.
What does this all mean? --- you can now advertise that you are “board certified.” Special thanks must go out to our Texas legal team ---- Joe Nixon and Tom Sartwelle with Beirne, Maynard & Parsons. I would also like to thank the tremendous work of our CEO, Bill Carbone, and our Governmental Affairs Department under the leadership of Tim Bell and Lauren Withrow.
Most importantly, I would like to thank you, our Texas physicians ---- you have “kept the faith” in us over the last several years with encouraging words and financial support.
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely, Scott G. Barnes, D.O., F.A.A.I.M.
